It’s All About The Dress You Wear
Who told you, you need a six figure budget or a dozen people worth of glam squad to look stunning? Believe me; it all comes down to the dress you wear. You can choose from a wide array; Le Femme Dresses, Terani Dresses, Sherri Hill Dresses, Sweet 16 Dresses, Jovani Dresses, Pageant Dresses, Red Carpet Dresses, Cocktail Dresses and Party Dresses but it is being thoroughly advised by fashion forward stylists that the body hugging Cocktail dresses has emerged as the new ‘black tie’, and there is no shame in getting away with that cute little black dress. What’s more, that LBD can be green or blue or purple. But the best part is that it wouldn’t cost you a fortune. With the advent of the Facebook tagging, you cannot be seen in the same dress twice, so new purchases are inevitable. Find clothes that are both easy on the pocket as well as transformational. You could buy an Old Navy jersey dress for $29 and pair it with great accessories and wear it again with some blazer or cashmere.
But It’s Also About What You Wear Underneath.
This is not a time to go wrong and panty lines are one big no-no. This is the time to ditch that frilly stuff and get the big guns out; wear a good bra and ‘fits like skin’ pair of Spanx. Your undergarments can make or mar your gorgeous dress, so invest some in what you wear underneath too.
Be Prepared For Emergencies
This is perhaps the most important advice. Remember that time when Katherine Hiegl straps came undone while receiving an award at ShoWest. Catastrophes had befallen many a celebrities and we have had a good laugh about them but how will you manage if it were to happen to you. You must carry with yourself some InstaMints; Vodkas and Red Bulls can give you bad breath. Also, some pieces of double stick tape, a Band-Aid and a needle with thread that matches your dress can prove to be life savers.
A Hold All Is a No-No
Sure it will be great if you could carry some makeup, an extra camera, a pair of flats etc. to the party but you cannot carry a suitcase to these events. That big day time hold all is spectacular at ruining a great look. You cannot carry all, so stick with a simple clutch, not too much of a statement; after all it’s just an accessory.
Don’t Doll Up
A red carpet event might strike as the right time to go all out with your make up but whatever you do, don’t. Keep your fake eyelashes under the covers for a little bit goes a long way. Always pick one thing on your face to concentrate on which may be your forte’ but doesn’t require much up keep. For example, go for blood red lips but don’t match it with smoky eyes. Think ‘one’ and always know your limits.
Go For Some Killer Heels or a Wedge
The higher the better they say and red carpet is just the time to slip in some killer heels. But always remember to test your heels first. Walk around them for some time to make sure you don’t topple about in them; if they really hurt, drop and Advil to make them more comfortable. If heels are not your thing (though how can they not be) opt instead for wedges or platforms but don’t get spotted in your flats.
Whatever You Do, Moisturize
If you’re planning to show off some bare legs and/or arms, don’t step out without moisturizing your body and better still, add some foundation and shimmer powder to your body cream. Get your skin well hydrated before stepping it up to the flashlights.
Strategizing the Look
Always go for one statement bold piece per look. Don’t crowd yourself with jewellery dangling from your ears, neck, hands, fingers and where not. If you are to wear a bold neckpiece, keep the shoulders bare and wear an occasional ring and no bracelet. If the hands are to be your focus of attention, give long sleeves a ditch and scoop that neck up and keep the necklace minimal.
